Tiny Houses of Westerstraat (Amsterdam )

June 21, 2019- Just like every city there are random moments that remind you of home. As we are dashing around Amsterdam on our bikes we came upon the tiny houses on Westerstraat. These 7 homes placed in a 4inch gap between row homes reminded us of our beloved Tiny Doors Atlanta @tinydoorsatl and brought out the curiosity and wanderlust of Amsterdam and sparked imaginative scenarios of tiny fairy Dutchmen enjoying their life in Amsterdam.

Smallest House in Amsterdam!

June 20, 2019- So another place we found on a walking tour was the smallest house in Amsterdam! it is 3 floors and a total combined space of 288 sf! It is now a Tea Shop, Het Kleinste Huis. A tea shop is located on the main floor and the second and third floors serve as tiny tea rooms, each with just one table.

Bridge Homes (Amsterdam)

June 19, 2019- Today’s adventure was taking a tour of small bridge houses. These houses were built various years apart starting in 1673 to 2009. They were housing for the bridge operators and are located in hundreds of locations all across the city. Now with the advancement in bridge automation they are being reimagined into livable spaces as well as shops and hotels.

Student Container Housing (Amsterdam)

June 18, 2019- One of the innovative housing projects we knew we had to visit while in Amsterdam is the famous Keetowen Project, the largest and first ever a student housing development in the world, built from new shipping containers...The project consists of 1,000 container living units, a laundry, a small supermarket, a bike repair shop and a restaurant spread over a land area of about 4.5 acres [1.8 hectares (300 by 60 meters)].
