Creating Walkability-Reimagining our City Blocks

URBANIZE Atlanta: New Midtown plaza shows how parking can be artfully repurposed

When you think back to some of your favorite vacation places (be it a beach or ski town, Disney World, or a European getaway), they likely all have one thing in common—walkability. It might not be obvious at first, but simply eliminating cars from our day-to-day creates a greater sense of relaxation and can even contribute to feeling more energetic! The ability to walk from your home to shopping down the street to your favorite restaurant and to a movie or live music show at the end of the day is one of the things that makes these vacation spots so enjoyable and refreshing.

The good news is, we don't have to wait until we're on vacation to have walkability. If we take the time to reimagine our own towns and cities we can create walkability, and in turn, better livability, bit by bit (or block by block 😊).
